The weights indicated on our website are as provided by the manufacturers. Manufacturers provide an average weight for each model of kayak but have cautioned that, depending on slight variations in the amount of materials used, the weight may vary from time to time.
It should also be noted that some manufacturers provide the weight of the kayak prior to adding rudders, seats, hatches etc. so in some cases the fully equipped kayak may weigh more than the actual hull weight provided by the manufacturer.
If in doubt one should always attempt lifting the kayak themselves prior to purchase to determine your ability to handle the kayak.
Yes, we offer a two month lay-by option, whether you purchase online or through one of our stores. If you wish to lay by online then select the goods that you require, proceed to checkout and then select the Lay By option at checkout. Please note that lay by deposits are non-refundable. Once the goods have been paid for in full then they will be released for you to enjoy.
Yes, we encourage you wherever possible to collect from your nearest C-Kayak store. Courier costs for kayaks are quite expensive so it will usually pay to drive an hour or more to collect your kayak, rather than have it freighted. This will also avoid any possible damage in transit. Besides this, visiting the store will allow you to enjoy the service and advice provided by our friendly staff, and perhaps pick up a few more kayaking goodies that you might not have thought about.
If you intend collecting the goods from one of our stores then please be sure to select this option at checkout so as to avoid delivery charges.
The only exception is for "Online Only" items, which will still incur a small delivery fee to get them shipped to your nearest store.
Yes, in addition to great products and service we also offer a range of customisations and additional services, parts & accessories including supply and fitting of hatches, rod-holders, rudders etc.
Give us a call or pop into your nearest C-Kayak store. That is what we are here for!
Alternatively, you can visit the "How to Choose Your Kayak" guide on the Southern Adventures website.
We make use of Australia Post for most kayak accessories, and reputable courier services for kayaks. Allow for 7 – 10 working days for accessories as this will give us enough time to sort, package and deliver your goods to Australia Post allowing some time for delivery.
For kayak deliveries we make use of a specialised kayak courier who delvers kayaks all around Australia. What will happen is once we receive your order we will check stock availability and then get in touch with the kayak courier to establish when he will next be heading in your direction. Usually the kayak courier will travel between the major cities on a fortnightly basis but it could take anything up to six weeks or more to get your kayak depending on their schedule. Please note that the freight prices we have quoted on our Online Store are based on us using this kayak courier. Should you require the goods sooner than the scheduled timing then we can call for a quote from a general courier and if you are happy to pay the difference we can get it shipped immediately, in which case you can expect to receive the goods within a few days.
In the event that you are not happy to wait for the kayak courier and you are not willing to pay the extra to have it shipped immediately, then we will refund you in full.
Occasionally there may be delays which are out of our control. If you have not heard from us or not received your goods within 10 days then please give us a call and we will investigate.
In some instances we may be out of stock of a particular item that you have ordered, in which case there may be extended delays. In such instances we will contact you to advise of the delay, and to discuss your options.
We organize regular paddle days in the vicinity of each of our stores, where people can take their kayaks and go for a leisurely paddle and get to meet other paddlers. Please check the www.southernadventures.com.au website for details.
Polyethylene is by nature soft and indentations in the hull are common for a number of reasons (pressed against another kayak while in the container, tied too tightly onto the roof racks of your car, inappropriate storage racks etc.)
You can reduce the chance of indentations appearing by using a kayak cradle on your roof rack rather than just strapping the kayak to the straight bars and using a wall rack, wall sling or hoister system rather than storing the kayak on top of uneven surfaces.
Because the plastic has memory these indentations can usually easily be removed by either leaving the kayak upside down in the sun or inserting a piece of closed-cell foam into the kayak directly above where the indentation appears and leave it like that overnight. Applying a hair-dryer or hot water can also assist in more extreme cases.
The important thing to remember is that indentations in the hull are common across all models and all brands of polyethylene and HTP plastics, but will not impact the performance of you kayak at all.
If this bothers you then you are better off getting a fibreglass or thermoformed ABS plastic kayak (such as Hurricane or Barracuda Beachcomber) as these materials do not form indentations on the hull, however, remember that fibreglass (including carbon and kevlar) are not as durable as plastic kayaks. For durability combined with excellent hull shape retention thermoformed ABS plastic is your best option.
If you require kayaks or accessories to be delivered to you then the following will apply:
Where the goods are delivered to you by our staff, using C-Kayak vehicles then we guarantee that the goods will be delivered in perfect condition.
In instances where we use a third party carrier the following will apply:
We only make use of reputable freight companies. We will ensure that the goods are packaged suitably for transport and that they are packed carefully onto the collection vehicles. It is important however to understand that the goods may be transferred at various stages of the journey and, while our freight companies take every care not to damage the goods, there have been a few instances in the past of goods being damaged in transit. In this instance it will be at your own risk.
Should you wish your goods to be insured against damage this can be arranged for a reasonable fee (please enquire for current rates) and must be expressly requested by yourself prior to shipping. In the absence of such a request it is assumed that you do not require insurance.
As you can imagine, it is impossible to provide all makes and models of kayak in every possible colour combination. Some manufacturers produce only certain colour options, and so we have to work within these options. You will notice on our Online Shopping Cart that there will usually be a few colours to choose from for each model. We will make every effort to send you the colour that you choose, however, where that colour is not available we will send you your 2nd preferred colour.
In the unlikely event that we are out of stock of both of your colour choices then we will contact you to discuss options (you may decide to go with another available colour, or rather wait for your preferred colour to become available). Should you require a colour that we do not have available online then we suggest that you contact us on Ph (02) 4325 7094 to see what can be arranged.
